02 / Meet your coach
I’m Ricardo D. Cuenca—Coach Ricky—founder and head coach of NextGen Player Development.
For more than a decade, I’ve helped young players understand the game, build confidence, and develop the technical habits needed to compete at the next level. My work is especially focused on the 7v7 and 9v9 stages, where strong individual foundations can shape a player’s entire future.
Every session has a purpose. I train the player in front of me, connect each action to their position, and give them clear corrections they can carry into match day.
03 / Coaching portfolio
Coach Ricky’s work centers on teaching players to understand their role, compete with confidence and carry clear habits into match day.
Long-term experience guiding players through key technical and tactical stages.
A focus on the ages where individual habits and game understanding take shape.
Development connects execution, decision-making and confidence.
Corrections are tied to the player’s position, pictures, pressure and responsibilities.
04 / Player Development Hub
Practical lessons for players and parents—built from real coaching moments.
A player’s first advantage happens before the first touch. Check the space, locate pressure and decide what your next action could be.

Mindset lesson • 3 minute readAfter games, ask what your player saw, tried and learned. Better questions help young athletes think without adding pressure.

06 / Coaching philosophy
The goal is not to look good in a drill. It is to recognize moments faster, execute with confidence, and understand why an action works.
Players grow faster when the correction makes sense—not when they only copy a movement.
Sessions reflect the pictures, angles, pressures, and choices players meet in their role.
Repetition under pressure prepares players to take responsibility in games.
Development stays focused through honest feedback and clear priorities.
